I invited Anne Hurl, Swisspearl Cladding, to come to GMIT to deliver a toolbox talk on their cladding system. It was held on Wednesday 23rd November from 2-3PM in Room 903. All students and staff in the Department of Building and Civil Engineering were invited to attend. It was also advertised through the Western Branch of the RIAI and the CIAT. The advertisement with the CIAT was through their website, link below.
The seminar provided an overview of high performance cement composite panels in terms of their manufacture, available options and benefits, as well as discussion of rainscreen systems and the role of cement composite panels in such a system.
The learning objectives of the seminar were to:
Describe the many product choices and options available in cement composite panels.
Summarise the test standards met by high performing cement composite panels.
List the components of ventilated rainscreen systems and identify how each contributes to reliable thermal performance and reduces energy consumption
Discuss the elements of cement composite panel application and life cycle that make the panels an excellent choice for sustainable design.
